Also, I put the Hinged Box on sale so if you have been thinking about picking one up, now's the time!
(EDITED) I had some text here earlier...but I'm taking the high road on the matter. To anyone who received Bernhard's email that my Jason's cube design was "a little bit stolen" from Nob's Double L design; it is patently untrue. The Jason's cube design was inspired by the Double L design, but is heavily modified and operates in a completely different way. This was checked and verified by the world's formost expert in puzzles before I even published it. Nothing justifies selling someone else's design without their explicit permission...something that I'm very careful of in my own work.
We have now transformed from the personal site of Eric Fuller to a sort of puzzle artists co-op. The site is not operated for profit; all monies paid for products (minus shipping and handling expense) goes directly to the artists. However, we have decided to combine shipping and payment efforts. Therefore, instead of dealing with two or even three artists to make a purchase, all purchases will go through the site, and all puzzles shipped from the same location at the same time. It is our hope that this will save in shipping costs for customers and also make it easier to purchase our work. Of course, the artists are always glad to hear from our customers, and will be open to email correspondance. The site has also undergone a bit of a face lift to make it easier to navigate the pruchase section and to make it clear who crafted which puzzle.
Finally, new puzzles for sale include the Garnet Puzzle by Mark McCallum.
The site will be revamped very soon to add online shopping cart and a few other changes. I initially started this site to show my collection. Later, I started selling a few puzzles on it. When I started corresponding with Robert Yarger, we quickly became friends and I offered to list his Stickman puzzle boxes. Another very skilled puzzle maker will be joining the site very soon, and some adjustments will be necessary to make the site kind of a "co-op" for puzzlemakers. More on this later, but I'm very excited about the possibilities.
My finger is pretty much healed; I'll be heading out to the shop next week to finish the hinged boxes finally! Also, not to let the cat out of the bag, but the Stickman #5 puzzle box should be ready before the end of September!
I'll be using the proceeds from this batch of Hinged Boxes to buy myself a safer table saw. I do 90% of my work on the table saw, and don't want to risk another accident!
On the positive side, I did have a chance to make some puzzles before I mauled myself. The 6 Piece Altekruse, Pack6 and Coffin 3 Piece Burr are now in stock again.
The final change has been to unfortunately charge for shipping on orders less then $75. I feel bad doing this, but the price at which I sell many of my puzzles precludes me from shipping them for free. Even a $25 puzzle represents a large investment of time to mill the stock, glue it, finish it, advertise and ship. The level of precision necessary to make a good puzzle means that everything is done right; no shortcuts! That takes time. I'm very sorry for the change, and will always work to hold puzzles and aggregate them for free shipping if neccessary.
I've also made a couple quick changes to the site. I added a contact page, and archived 2003 "What's New?" to keep this page shorter.
Also, added new puzzles to the gallery:
A note on limited editions. When I say I will only make a certain number of a specific design, that's IT. I will not make any more in the future. Period. I don't think it's fair to collectors to re-release designs once you limit the number. So, that is my word to you; limited edition designs will stay limited.
Happy puzzling :-)
I'll be knocking out a couple small jobs I need to get out of the way in my woodshop this weekend, and I hope to make the first prototype of my next box project, the 7 Move Hinged Box. This box will be made in a much more limited quantity - right now it's looking like somewhere between 12 and 18 puzzles total. It's a tricky design that I'm hoping will turn out as good in wood as it looks on paper. More on that as progress continues.
Speaking of puzzle boxes, I'm also happy to announce that I have been collaborating with the Stickman Box Company as promised, and the Stickman #4 box should be available on this site sometime in the next 30 days. I don't want to give too much away, but the concept is completely unique, and the execution should be excellent (think exotic woods this time!). It will be entered in this year's IPP...which I will unfortunately not be able to attend this time :-(
Finally, new Puzzles Added To Gallery:
11.20.2004
Cubicdissection is very happy to announce the addition of Mark McCallum to the site. Mark has been making fine interlocking puzzles for many years, but his puzzles have until now been somewhat difficult to obtain. You can read about Mark here.
10.9.2004
Two new puzzles this week, the Parcelpost packing puzzle and Stewart Coffin's excellent Frantix puzzle.
9.12.2004
At last the Stickman #5 Box is ready. As a puzzle maker, I am astounded by this box. A hearty congratulations to Robert Yarger, the designer and woodworker behind the Stickman box series; this box is a landmark piece of art, and signifies a new level of design complexity and truly fine craftsmanship!

Quick update; the very talented Kagen Schaefer is no longer selling puzzles through cleverwood; instead he is running his own website, which has been added to the links page. Congrats!

A bad day: I was working hard in my shop to get the second batch of Hinged Boxes ready when I slipped and nearly cut one of my fingers off. Needless to say, they will most probably delayed until September or so (although I am taking advance reservations). To any fellow woodworkers who visit the page, let me admonish you to pay attention; all it takes is one tiny slip. In my case, having the blade too high and "zoning out" were the culprit. Fortunately I did not cut the tendon (although it was visible), so I should heal up fine, albeit with a really ugly knuckle. I guess 9 stitches will do that...oh well, I wasn't considering a second career as a hand model anytime soon :-)

I have added information about Antfarm Studios, the artist co-op I work out of.
6.27.2004
Whew. Lots has happened since the last update. I have relocated from San Diego to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I've decided give full time woodworking a try...making puzzles and also trying other art forms. I'll be working out of a co-op art studio in the historic Boylan Heights district in Raleigh. The studio is called Antfarm and is full of very talented artists. I feel honored to join them, and look forward to a very creative environment from which to provide you with great new puzzles!

I added a new puzzle, the Hinged Box, to the purchase section. The first run of 13 boxes sold out entirely to mailing list customers, who receive three days notice on new puzzles before they are available on the main page of the site. If you would like advance notice and availability, you may join the mailing list by emailing me. Membership is free, there is no obligation, and I do not share information with anyone else. There will be another run of hinged boxes made sometime this summer. I will make 27 more for a grand total of 40.

Removed workshop space and added Puzzle Designers notice.

Quick update. Bad news: The Stickman #3 box is officially sold out. There may be a few more available after its appearance in this year's IPP Design Competition. Good News: The Stickman #4 box should be ready and listed for sale within a week or two! Very exciting...
2.24.2004
Well, it's been a couple months since an update! I've been very busy in the shop, busy enough to have completed a full production run (including prototypes) of my first puzzle box design, the 16 Move Puzzle Box. A few collectors I know received "advance copies" of this puzzle and enjoyed it very much, so I have good expectations for it. I ended up making a whopping grand total of 45 boxes! If that does not seem like too many, remember, this is a part time hobby for me! I will NEVER make so many boxes again, as I have so many other ideas I want to implement. 45 boxes took me 7-8 weeks to complete; in the future, box production will be limited to whatever I can make in 4-6 weeks (probably 12-18 boxes).
