Thanks for the history on my work.  The release dates and limited edition amounts were a nice touch.  I would be hard pressed to research such detailed information about my own work.

Are these all puzzles in your own collection (if so you got them all), or just a complete list?

Nick Baxter did some weird calculus equation and came up with 666 different difficulty combinations based on placing the drawers back in various directions and positions.

I did not understand exactly how he came up with the number, but he sounded like he knew what he was talking about, so I took him at his word.

People started calling it the Beast Box because 666 is the biblical number of the beast.

that would make sense...

I don't know if you've used burrtools at all, but I've modelled your "Beast Box" in it ages ago...
Brought the software to its knees at the time...

Never used burr tools before.  Never made a burr puzzle, but I will shortly request an equation from those on the forum to evaluate the beast box mathmatically.

Jim,
No problem, I have oodles of free time over the next few weeks.
------
Anyone going to IPP 28?  I'm not, but I should show up at IPP 29 and 30.

*Locations of the IPP's are kept a secret, so please don't post their country/city of origin.  Wink.
**We don't want any problems with the other conventions- geologists (these guys can drink Wink), X-Ray technicians, philosophers, and those Sci-Fi folks  have their own special issues when confronted with puzzles and the like.

Robert and Matt,

I have updated my website on Robert to reflect limited edition numbers.  Some of my numbers (obtained from the instruction books accompanying the boxes) conflict with Matt's numbers.  Matt may be correct; I think that I remember that, at least with Stickman #1, not all boxes were made and will never be.  In any event, kindly advise.  Thanks.

I would just go with what it says in the instruction booklets.  I almost alway loose a couple from each set along the way, but I really don't keep track of a revised number from such losses.  If you went with the instruction bookelet numbers, you would also save multiple e-mails from collectors who want to know why the numbers are different.  The snowflake and chopstick had not limited edition numbers

well, I re-ran the burrtools on my slightly simplified version of the stickman #7...
came up with 538 solutions / assemblies.

A few smaller than 666...

I haven't worked out the equation but I believe that is the correct number.

Hi Derek and Robert,

I feel somewhat gratified by Derek's number.  I spent a bit of time the other day using a standard counting argument to try to compute the number of assemblies of "The Beast" up to rotation and came up with:

4(16+15+14+...+1)=4(16)(17)/2=544.

I may have some duplications embedded in my solution somewhere.  (Disclaimer: I have not played with the puzzle in a while and so I may be overlooking something.)  In any event, I could not produce 666.

Best,
Jim
