Don't know if facebook had anything to do with it, but after setting up my account, my norton virus protection for e-mail was disabled and had to set it back up.  It could just be a coincidence, but you might check your virus protection software as well.  Had a similar problem when my son would get onto myspace.

Perhaps it was just me then.  Already facebook has paid off.  I have gotten friend requests from many people who I don't know or have never heard of.  Friends of friends friends and such.
