Welcome, Phil - and thanks a lot for the great photos. I have a similar dream of someday making a coffee table with 4 drawers that make a puzzle to fully open them - with a glass top so puzzles can be viewed in the drawers. I actually recognized some of your puzzles - look like a great collection! I'm also a big fan of the Arts and Crafts style, and really enjoyed visiting Frank Lloyd Wright's Meter May house when I used to live near Grand Rapids, MI. So, here's my big question: How do I get my wife to learn the same appreciation of Arts & Crafts as I have??? So far, no luck - but I am open to any suggestions! Thanks for the post - and welcome aboard! Scott

Welcome Phil, great work on the puzzle cabinet!! I would think there might even be a market for something unique like that considering all the collectors there are. I recognize a couple of 'Stickman' beauties in your collection

Well Scott, I can't begin to explain the attraction to Arts & Crafts. One of the local furniture stores here in Cincy (Verbargs), carries the contemporary Stickley collection, and the sales rep who followed me around the store while I drooled, said that a lot more men than women seem to love the style. That said, my ex-wives (don't ask) loved the stuff, as does my sister-in-law. I would say, try a more general approach--the pottery, the art, the philosophy. But what the heck do I know!?? Thanks for the compliments on the cabinet.

Beautiful work Phil, I wish I had the time and skill to do that. I'm at least one step beyond Scott, in that I have the parts to a coffee table cut and measured, and sitting in a stack in a corner.

I think that Scott has most of a chest of drawers already finished. Still, you go boy!!!. I have always wanted to make furnature, but it just did not pay enough. I have lots of furnature ideas in mind, but no time to mess with creating them. At least you are one step above me. I am jealous of all of you furnature makers. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your arm pits!!!

Howdy! I have been collecting puzzle boxes for twelve years, since I was eleven. The bulk of my collection comes from friends and family members. Unfortunately, I have not "solved" quite a few of my boxes since I am also involved in another area of mind games, University. I will graduate with a degree in Casino Management & Operations in December of this year. Hopefully, when I graduate I will have more time for my boxes or I can always wait until I retire

Howdy all! I've been collecting since the mid 80s, when I got turned onto 6-piece burrs from the famous Scientific American article... A few years back I started designing some puzzles of my own (MazeNCubes, Really Bent Board Burr, etc). I still have no access to woodworking equipment or skill, so I'm at the mercy of the kind craftspeople out there to make my puzzles for me... Some day, I hope to learn woodworking and make a few myself... Cheers, Derek Bosch (aka smiteo)

Welcome aboard Derek, I hope we can help with your desire to someday make a few...but we tend to get sidetracked! I have your 'Really Bent Board Burr' made by the 'MasterCraftsman' Tom of course Outstanding design and Tom Really outdid himself on it!!!!!

Thanks, John!
I'm very lucky to have had Tom make my puzzles for me... He does do amazing work, and I was blown away by how nicely he made the RBBB...
Cheers, Derek

Frank,
I am curious to know who else in the UK you might know. Have you met up with Peter Hajek or James Dalgety? Have you seen the Dalgety puzzle museum in person. For that matter, has anyone or is it still only online. James said at one time he was going to make it public, but I have not talked to James in years.
