Ha Ha , TTT diameter is 108mm. Ideally 115mm to fit the trapped T at the centre. Stock cutting at 18.5 degrees gives no gaps on the outside Getting the 2 layers to fit snug with rubberbands and Microwave is the way to go. Inner and outer layers are mirrored. Took me 6 hours to seperate the 10 pieces of STC design 72 to 12 dissimilar pieces, only 1 pair has a loose fit, working on it, Also theres another 4 TTT designs with different internals to work on

All thanks to Sir Mark for his tips and diagrams, hes terific help.Otherwise this wouldn't have happen
Nestled set has 4 layers

Hi Stephen, very very nice!!!!   Grin

I'll leave the round and skew stuff alone for now.  I'm too square!

I'm doing "round stuff" right now, but I am a "round stuff" virgin.  Any pointers?  Strange how calculations used for square items don't come even close to applying to round.

I had a similar situation with length calculations when applied to the angles of octagon frames.  Strangely, the length of eight equal pieces of wood assembled into a frame changes the degree of miter cut slightly.  Still have not figured that one out yet.  REgardless of the size of a square frame, the degree is always 45.  When it comes to octagon, it should always be 22.5 but that does not seem to be the case.

So a lathe is a machine that fights back.  I'm impressed.  Maybe I should not make fun of you guys so much.  Like me, you take your lives into your own hands with every project.

Great job Stephen!  Way to stick to it and not give up! You give way too much credit to me.  It was all your doing. Congratulations!  It is not only a testament to your woodworking skill, but also your patience! 180 pieces!! WOW!!  Truly an amazing accomplishment.

On page 126 of PWPD (under the picture of a Split Star), Stewart Coffin wrote, "Perhaps someone will now be encouraged to try a three tiered design."  We now know that someone is Stephen Chin.

So you said you'll have 100 of those ready as your exchange puzzle next year?    Grin Grin Grin

OK Stephen,  I said that I don't trade puzzles, but let's talk.  If one of these ever makes it to the library, I call first dibbs.
