Robert does have a 'formal' name now, but you'll all have to wait till he lets the 'cat out of the bag'(you know I've used that saying a lot, but I don't even understand what the reference is?) Shocked

Is somebody throwing down the gauntlet?  Well, I'm back.  By the way, the official name now is the "Try-Knot".  I only made about 35 of them for this next listing.  The rest will have to wait to be assembled intil after I get a bit of vacation.

Yeah, I'm on vacation.  That means that I am laying a new tile floor, painting the house and cleanig out the garage (woodshop).  When I finish with all my chores (vacation) I will get right back to work.

Just wait till you start to solve it, kept me busy for quite a while!!  I say this is one of the top three puzzleboxes Robert's ever made, I'm always amazed at his completely different approach from one project to the next, well done buddy!!!

What are the other two.?  My favorite is still the snowflake (perfection through simplicity) and I also like the Beast Box.

The most fun puzzles to make are those involving John Devost.  He is just so fun to work with.  Peter, back me up here.

Oh Yeah, hands down your 'Snowflake', I literally spent hours going through the sequence of moves, very addictive!!  That's why I had to make a few, just had to!! Of course the other is your 'Chopstick' puzzlebox, that one literally blew me away.  I'm sure from a complexity level your 'Beast Box' would be on top but unfortunately it was before my time at 'Cubic' Sad Wink

Love the chopstick puzzle as well.  My hellraiser sphere puzzzlebox should hopefully top the snowflake.  We shall see.  If it is any indication of its dark seated powers, it has already drawn blood in the process of its production.  By the way, I was working with bloodwood when I cut myself.  Ironic isn't it.

I did a weathering test on some chunks of Bloodwood, Jotoba, Walnut and Maple... I was rather dismayed how quick bloodwood changed in the span of a month. I'll take pics.

Kerry, you crack me up.  I personally keep my puzzleboxes out of the weather.

Oh, but I did do a fire test on the same woods a while back, and I was dismayed at how quick they all burned.

No, but really on a serious note.  Try cutting a pattern out of duct tape and place it on some maple, then set it out in the light for a week.  You will get the pattern on the final piece.  Have not figured out how to use that as a box decoration, but I am intrigued by the possibilities.
