Well here's my combination 'Rifle Casing (30-06) with Warthog Tooth'
Johan, this was the hardest material I've ever turned on the lathe, it really had a tendency to 'chatter' it was so hard.  I think you'll like how it turned out however.  I've been waiting to use some of my 'Rifle casings' and thought the 'Tooth' was an appropriate match! Wink
By the way Johan, my wife reconsidered her stance after your last email Grin

Hey John, I have some .500 S&W magnum brass and I think some .454 Casull if you ever need a big-bore writing instrument Wink

Do you shoot much?  I used to shoot competitively in IDPA and 3 Gun matches, but it's been a long time.  Haven't even been to the range in about a year.  Since I reload the larger calibers, I've got a ton of brass if ya need it.

Have not forgotten to send you some turning samples...but it will probably have to wait until this box is done so my saws are freed up.  Which could be a while the way things are going.

Extremely nice pen.  I was wondering, was the bullet you used in the pen the same one that killed the beast for his tusk? Smiley

Very very nice John.  That's now a true hunters pen.  Grin  I'm really glad the government relented.

Robert, No.  The one is from Africa and the other from Canada.

John, I have a small (6" bed with a 2 3/4" swing metal lathe (Unimat 5) which is probably a 1955 model)  Because it is a metal lathe, I use metal bits and then the tooth tuns like olive on a wood lathe, no chattering, like butter.  The smell is however not so nice. Undecided

What diameter are the Magnum brass?  I have some rather large 'expensive' kits that might work with those.

I've never even held a gun in my hand, unless you consider a 'Hilti' gun one Tongue

No rush on those turning samples, although I'm anxious to see what you have Wink  Mark sent me some really outstanding stuff a while back so I'm turning some of that at the moment Wink

Hey Robert, Johan said the 'Warthog' died of natural causes, being how they're such pests I kinda doubt it Lips sealed

Very nice, I've been wanting to convert my 'Taig' lathe to metalmode to do just that, I will get to it eventually as it'll be handy for turning aluminum pens/pencils Wink
Oh Yeah that smell is horrid Shocked

Hi John

A friend sent me this photo.  As you can see, they breed almost like rabbits.  The one in the background is a female waiting her turn!

The male has a nice set of teeth!  It is about 1/2 of the size of the one I sent you.

His wife and daughters were not too happy with him about the photo.

Are they playing "piggy back"?  Tell you wife that pigs are just swine.  It reminds me of the lyrics of the popular Beatles song that goes, "why don't we do it in the road."

Gentlemen

I now have the privilege to actually have this pen in hand together with a few other items John sent me.  This is a public acknowledgment of his generosity and kindness, as all of you have pointed out previously.

Thanks Boet, I really appreciate it.
