Yeah it certainly is very quiet, I started making some pens from the woods you sent me, and so far they all look very nice, especially the 'Olive root knot' it has some very spectacular grain and the aroma is very reminiscent of Olive's I'm hoping to have a pic tomorow if all goes well

I'm packing for a week at the beach. I believe Eric is working on his latest contraption.

I've been out of town all week. On Monday the airline nearly held me hostage.

Erf. I've been busting my butt and feel like I'm getting nothing done. Auction took up a surprising amount of time, and fabricating 90 aluminum latches took damn near two weeks, which surprised me. Oh well, at least I'm making sawdust again.

I think everybody is preparing or working for the IPP and so everybody hides his newest inventions for that event; lets hope so and so we will see many new designs there; John be carefull with your olive pen, don`t give it to your wife she will use it in the kitchen and mix the salad with it to have a mediterranean tase
all the best Bernhard

hello Roy
my sentence was not against the edition of your Stonehenge puzzle, I myself felt in the last weeks/months that not so many real new puzzles were offered or edited as in some times of the last year
hope to see you at the IPP Bernhard

I was not referring to Stonehenge... The only thing 'new' about that one is its name. It's just an old (2005) design that remained unpublished and nameless. Only very recently I noticed what I should have seen long before... It has a second 'monumental' solution that even Ishino's software couldn't find (see picture) Unfortunately I can't make it to the IPP. The date of the event is such that it will always be difficult for me to attend. This year, things looked good in the beginning but changed for the worse. But I'll be there in thoughts

John, That olive just has an aroma all of its own. Tamboti, which grows in the warthog part of South Africa, in the green format is poisonous. Even when dry the dust can give you the trots, but that has a really terrific smell. Sorry I did not include a piece. Enjoy!
Ronald, Stonehenge appeared on Ishino's site this week. It is on my list to make one for my collection. I've made so many of your puzzles now I might as well make a complete range to display. Do you have a list of your designs?

Well I have my 'files' (or should I say 'piles') which are mainly a bunch of papers notebooks, beer mats, CD-ROMs,... without any system, but loaded with mostly unfinished and/or very embryonic puzzle ideas. These are mostly collecting dust and from time to time I pick up one at random to surprise myself... Often something that was stashed away for whatever obsure reason (couldn't get it right, didn't like after all, but mostly because another idea interfered) makes a nice alternative when I get stuck on an idea. Maybe I should sort it all out one day, but then I fear it will become pretty useless to me.

Johan, you really went 'over the top' with your package already, and I promise you'll be 'surprised' by my package in return! Speaking of the smell of woods, a while back I made some puzzles out of 'Thuya' burl and the aroma still comes through even after lacquering and buffing I'm anxious to find out if the 'olive aroma' comes through after the pens completed

Hey Bernhard, I'm hoping to maybe give her one of those 'olive pens' in exchange for her letting me make one of out the wonderful 'warthog tooth' Johan sent me!

Hey John - I was thinking, you might see if the dust makes your ponies trot too... All joking aside - is the wood toxic?

Only the tamboti, which I did not include.
Otherwise everything is as safe as can be.
I've made one puzzle from Camphor wood, and the aroma still comes through. Unfortunately the wild olive only smell when you work it. Once you've lacquered, it will disappear.
