This box has been sent to Matt Dawson on 5/13/08.  Matt will be sending it to the next person on the list.

Each person, be sure that the instruction booklet is included along with the box to the next guy.  The last person on the list is responsible for shipping it back to me.

Howdy. Yes, I'd like to be somewhere in the borrowing list.

Thanks!

Andrew,

You are next on the list.  Matt Dawson currently has the box.  Send him and e-mail(he is in the forum member list)to provide him with your shipping address and confirm a date for transfer.  Be extra careful to include the instruction booklet when you pass it along, as it is the only booklet I have.  I hope you enjoy this box, it really is very nice.

Matt, did you get contacted by Andrew, or do you still have the box.  IF so, have you solved it yet.  If so, have you dared to take apart the box in the 78 individual pieces.  If so, did you manage to get it to go back together again.  If so are you exhausted with solving puzzles for a while.

If so, are you tired of me asking you "If so" yet?

Jeff,

Good to hear from you after that Clockbox SNAFU.  You are next on the list after Andrew, but last I heard, Matt was having some difficulty getting ahold of Andrew.  Andrew, if you are out there, chime in so that we know you are still interested.  I think Matt was planning on sending it off to you this Monday if you can ensure that you will be home to receive it.

Matt, if you can't get a hold of Andrew by Monday, go ahead and send it to Jeff, and then Andrew can get it next.  I will let you work out the details, but be sure to post who you are sending it to on the fourm so I know who has it.

Everyone, be sure to include the instruction booklet when you send it to each person.

I wasn't aware anyone couldn't reach me or there was a lag in the contact. I guess I need to check back on the forum more often. Sorry. The box Matt sent arrived today ... a HUGE box ... well, I didn't think the puzzle box was so big. It's a beautiful thing. I managed to get one panel moved a bit and the opposite panel about 3x as much but the last few inches it wouldn't budge.  Thats when I brought out a pry bar and hammer ... and with a few solid taps ...   just kidding. No business cards inside. Matt did you open it?

But I am not sure if I "cheated" getting the panel off... I'd say how I got the panel off here, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.  I'm in the process of going over every inch... amazing how it goes together. Beautifully designed. Getting it back together? Hmmm....

It should have taken you about 32 moves to open it.

No, it was fine. I purposely did not look at the pamphlet/instructions when opening it.   I see that what I did to open it was the right move. (Yea!) I also didn't count my moves as I "fiddled" around the box. The idea that this thing completely comes apart is frightening. I have taken some of it apart- very close tolerances. Nice.

Thanks for the compliments.  I really did not think the box had tight tolerances, but of necessity it could not be too tight.

As you have figured out, there is only one way to get it apart, so cheating is not an option.  Andrew, you are a bold person to even attempt taking it apart.  Practically everyone comes to the point of pulling out that last piece and stops out of fear.  It takes me about 45 minutes to put one together from scratch, and I know what I am doing.

I notice that Matt has not replied to your questions.  Matt, did you get it apart?  I know that your cousin could. (Inside joke) Smiley

I got close, but one of the tabs wouldn't properly move for me, so I didn't want to force it.
Very nice box.

One or more of the 4 locking tabs seemed to have a nice "snap" to them as they slid into place. There were a few that I wasn't sure about, but overall it has a GREAT feel to it. I meant "tight" as in how everything fit together... that nothing was holding the panel pieces in place except for how tight the top and bottom fit into the adjoining slot. I kept looking for something on the ends to move. Hell, the whole thing looks like every piece moves!

Bold? Maybe. I was nervous sliding out the side bar as the panel pieces started to loosen. It's actually not so bad. But I certainly follow your advice in keeping the pieces separate from panel to panel. Yikes!

Oh, I have to say that there were a couple individual pieces that I thought from their shape would be glued up ... but NO ... cut, carved and sanded in whole. Very nice. Smiley
