Okay puzzle enthusiasts, here's your chance to get a loan of my copy of ERIC'S IRMO PUZZLEBOX!
I will send the box to the first person who posts to this topic and it will be sent onward to the next successive person who posts and so on..........I'll expect everyone to be careful and take care to be sure the puzzlebox is not damaged, however having said that, this box is made in such a way that I'm confident it will easily stand up to 'handling' in attempting to 'solve' this very beautiful piece of work.  All I ask is that all who receive and subsequently solve this puzzlebox, leave their 'business card' inside as proof they have indeed solved it, and perhaps drop Eric a line letting him know what you thought of his very nicely crafted puzzlebox, HAPPY PUZZLING!  Cheesy

John, I have already solved that particular box, but you have a wonderful concept.  I also will send a copy of the Stickman No 5 to the next person who responds to my particular post, and the same rules apply.  I will also make a similar post when my next puzzlebox is finished.

Perhaps everyone should also post in this section when they receive one of these puzzles so that everyone knows who has what, and there should be a time limit of 2 weeks.  In the end, when the last person has played with a puzzle, it should be returned (hopefully intact) back home again.

John, you are a library genius.  I hope others will also follow suit. .

Matt,

Send me your address again to my e-mail address, and I will get it out to you this week.  Of course, you are responsible for paying shipping to the next guy.  OK

Oh, by the way John, this is a big idea.  Perhaps it should have its own main section in the forum, because I plan on setting aside one of every box I make for this.  There probably needs to be some rules set up (time frames - responsibility for international shipping - posts to know who has what).  I was thinking of an entire section for this because each puzzle probably needs to have its own thread.)

Give it some thought and let me know what you think we should do.  After all, we are moderators and can set this thing up right so that others also feel comfortable doing the same thing.

I'll keep an eye on this concept, and if it takes off, make a dedicated sub-forum.  Thanks guys for generously sending them abroad for an indefinite period!

This is a fantastic idea! I am moving the end of June and don't want to chance the item arriving at the wrong address, so I love the idea but will wait till I am settled into my new home.  The opportunity to try some of these rare puzzles would be very exciting.  I especially like the fact that the creator will benefit by getting feedback from puzzle enthusiasts. Thanks to the forum members who have offered to share there puzzles with the rest of us.

Hey John,

Could you throw the portable pen puzzle box in the shipment too?

Yes, this is pretty much what I was looking for. Grin  ... the chance to see first hand someone's handiwork and try out NEW puzzles that I wouldn't necessarily know otherwise I'd have an interest in.  (Sadly, the ONLY puzzle box I have ever had my hands on was a small one I bought from Bits & Pieces a dozen or more years ago - It had a fairly small number of moves to get it open, but the top lid had warped so that it was near to impossible to open or close.)
I have a current interest in the Sonneveld Cubed Burr by Lensch and any puzzle box.

Thanks!

Andrew

I will send you your choice of Eric's remake of "Oskar's matchbox", John Devost's remake of "Stickman Snowflake puzzlebox" or Eric's "Cam Puzzlebox", or you can put your name on the list to be next in line for the "Stickman No 5 (borg) Puzzlebox" after Matt Dawson is finsihed with it.  Just let me know which you would be most interested in.

The boxes are also available for anyone else visiting the library on a first come basis.

I think it would be best to eventually have the library as a "main" section on the forum home page, with each puzzlebox listed under its own thread.  In the end that would make it easier to track each puzzle, (where it is now and where it is going next).  It would also be easier for people to select the puzzle they want by just looking at the individual headings.  I think that is something Eric would have to do.

We could put in in the "artist" section, but normal collectors can't access that area can they?  Still, there is a beneift in doing such, as not just anyone could borrow from the library, which increases the chances of eventually getting the puzzle back.

I like the concept, but we really do need a better way to impliment it.  I can see where it is already getting confusing.  I have to read through 20 posts just to see who is requesting an individual box.

It is fine with me to move it over to the "artist" section if you think that is best.  I would just transfer the current status of puzzles over to a new section and then close this thread.  Whatever method we decide on, we need to include formal rules (time frame of checkout, and responsibility of mailing to the next guy, posting each time the puzzle changes hands by both sender and receiver to know for sure who has it, and so on.)
