Hi guys, here's a new woodworker pencil in buckeye burl(stabilized)on a brown mallee burl cap;D

Wonderful pen!!!  The woodstock looks more like coral than wood.  Seems like it would be a very challenging wood to lathe, but you are the expert.

Thanks Robert, I've been thinking of making a pen and leaving some of the outer 'shell' of a burl, I think it would look cool but probably not something you'd want to use. Wink

Suppose you left some of the outer burl, but covered it over with a clear plastic to make it smooth, but aslo give it depth.  I suppose you would have to apply the clear polymer prior to lathing.

Maybe you could try some epoxy resin to cover the outer burl. Huh
