Eric, how were you able to get in touch with Bits and Pieces to do your box?  I saw last year on the forum you posted that you were interested in the idea but had no idea how to do it.

Also, how come the box is rectangular shaped instead of your original cube?  It's not apparent that it's any easier to build larger.

Eric, I got the most recent "Bits and Pieces" catalog yesterday and I noticed they have one of your designs!  Is the "Shut Case Box" the mass-market version of the "Cam Box"?  What was it like working with them?

I assumed that you puzzle makers are awesome at this type of math, since your designs are so precise and complex.

I think your answer is correct (I just added a few details)

1.609   Hypotenuse H
1.138   Leg L = H/√2
2.606   Inner box width W1 = 4.156 - 2*(0.525+0.25)
0.639   Small hypotenuse h = (H+2*L-W1)/2
1.636   Inner box height H1 = 2*L - h
2.136   Middle box height H2 = H1 + 2*0.25
0.932   X = (4.0-H2)/2

The lock arrived this week.  I haven't been able to solve it - only got maybe the first move or two.  It seems to have pretty good quality, definitely better than most Indian-made puzzle locks.

Who won the Stewart Coffin puzzle design contest?  I did a bunch of forum searches and couldn't find the details of the winner.  I'm sure it must have been posted, but I can't seem to find it.

I sent an email to Grand Illusions asking who the designer and manufacturer were, but they didn't get back to me.  I did wind up ordering it, though, so I'll have to let you guys know what I think after I've had a chance to play with it.

I'm a big fan of puzzle locks also.  If this is anything like the Dan-Lock it will be one of my favorite puzzles.

I saw this puzzle lock for sale at Grand Illusions:

http://www.grand-illusions.com/acatalog/Impossible_Lock.html

I haven't seen it for sale at any other site, and they don't mention the designer.  Does anyone know anything about it (other than what is posted on the Grand Illusions site)?
