Yes, I suppose someone could have substituted a fake gold coin by gold-plating some platinum or uranium, but either would be worth more than the gold, so why bother? I guess most counterfeiters will try lead first. Yes, that's what I thought. And not to belabor the point, but lead is lighter than gold, and so my solution would hold. Nevertheless, if the actual puzzle is that the fake could be lighter OR heavier, then my solution fails, and you have to go to the other method.

1. Put 6 coins on each tray of the balance. Whichever side registers heavier, set those aside because the fake is not in there. The fake coin is EITHER heavier OR lighter than the other coins !!! Leaving comments about your undergarments aside... 1. Put 6 coins on each tray of the balance. Whichever side registers heavier, set those aside because the fake is not in there. 2. Divide the remaining coins, three on each tray. Again, set aside the heavier coins. 3. Put two of the remaining coins on the balance. If one of them is lighter, that is the fake. If they are the same, the remaining coin (the one not on the balance) is your culprit.

I think if you're trying to keep others from reading your thoughts, you go shiny side out. And if you're trying to keep them from planting thoughts in your brain, you wear the foil outside of the hat. And if you want to know all the best kabbalah numeric secrets and formulas, play Madonna's latest CD backwards.

Looks like you can get about $30 off by using the Live Search Discount through eBay.
I could not find a BTU output listed anywhere. Anyone see that?
Might be nice to have this for a backup in my finishing room when the exhaust fan pulls all the heat out of the shop,

Well I'm back at it, the Arc that is. My wife has been cracking the whip, she wanted me to finish a entertainment center that she has wanted. Well it's done so now it's back to my project. I did make a change to the design to allow for a recording to be played if you can successfully open the Arc. I did not elect to use any shocking devices. I am now looking for a gold leaf kit to use on some of the trim. Has anybody got any suppliers for such a thing? I would also like to know if anyone has done any gold leafing and how it worked out. Hey Ron, I have not done this but I know that both David Marks and Norm Abram have done shows on gilding. A couple of links; http://www.newyankee.com/getproduct.php?0701http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=748iRXvvWTE&eurl=http://www.djmarks.com/youtube.aspA lot of links on Google search for gold leaf.

Meanwhile, I am looking into some other (expensive) lighting options that might make tinted shelving a possibility. Sigh.
Aren't you glad you asked for our opinions! Actually I am glad I asked for everyone's opinions! Sometimes, designing and working alone, it is easy to get lost in a do-loop (don't-loop?) of bad decision making! That's why it is great to have this community of you all!
